Dash Hound Media was founded by David Watson, a photographer and filmmaker with over 40 years’ experience in production and broadcasting. David’s career spans an extraordinary range from news and documentaries to talk shows, sports, game shows, and more.
He’s worked behind the camera and behind the scenes, but always with one goal in mind: telling stories that connect.
The ‘Dash Hound’ name is a playful tribute to Lester, David’s first dog; a dachshund who made a big impression on a small boy. The spelling’s been tweaked, just for fun, but the spirit of Lester lives on in every project: loyal, curious, and always ready to follow the scent of a new story.
Then there’s Dash Hound Docs, celebrating remarkable stories that the mainstream media often overlooks. Our first two documentaries are The Cave and All About Ted.
Ted would describe himself as entirely unremarkable. From his retirement home in Malta, he reflects on a life shaped by childhood during the Second World War, military service, family, hard work and the enduring values that have guided him throughout his life. It’s a reminder that some of the most fascinating stories belong to people we might otherwise never meet.
The Cave explores not only a remarkable cavern with its own unique internal microclimate, but also the extraordinary archaeological discovery within it that attracted worldwide attention.
For younger viewers, Dash Hound Kids kicks off with The Puddle Park Pals. This proudly low-tech series follows Brodie and his friends as they enjoy everyday adventures filled with imagination, fun and gentle humour. Within each story are positive messages about kindness, openness, curiosity, friendship and respect, all presented naturally without preaching.
Dash Hound Travel takes you around the world with beautifully shot short films from destinations including India, Australia, Borneo, Armenia, Uzbekistan and many more. There’s no sponsorship, no paid endorsements and no hidden agendas – just honest impressions of the places we visit. We don’t want to spoil the destination by showing you everything. We’d much rather leave you wanting to experience it for yourself.
